“October greeted us with snow and blocked roads,” says Marian Dimitrov, Director of ADRA Bulgaria. “But in my soul, it feels like summer.”
These weeks, thankfulness fills the hearts of the ADRA Bulgaria team. On October 12, 2025, during the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities in Albena — attended by Bulgaria’s Prime Minister and broadcast on national television — ADRA Bulgaria received one of the highest honours a non-governmental organisation can receive in Bulgaria.

The award, presented by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB), recognises outstanding partners and investors who have made a lasting impact on local communities.
ADRA Bulgaria was nominated by the Municipality of Pazardzhik for its consistent, compassionate, and practical service — from renovating homes for struggling families to delivering vital medical equipment and responding swiftly in emergencies.
Why ADRA Bulgaria Was Chosen
- Each summer, ADRA volunteers renovate two to three homes for families with several children who live in poverty.
- The team delivers hospital beds, wheelchairs, and medical equipment to under-resourced hospitals across the country.
- Adra Bulgaria continues to working together with UNICEF providing educational projects for refugee children.
- In times of crisis — floods, storms, and other disasters — ADRA responds within hours, bringing relief and hope to those affected.
- Beyond projects, ADRA works hand in hand with local municipalities, modelling cooperation, dignity, and compassion in action.
This recognition is also a testament to you — our donors, corporate and church partners, and volunteers — who make every act of compassion possible.
Your generosity, and commitment to justice, compassion and love have helped ADRA become a trusted partner to local communities and a sign of hope in challenging times.
“We are accepting this award with love and responsibility,” said Marian.
“This honour calls us to serve even more faithfully — for the good of the people of Bulgaria. We often meet people and see their vulnerability and pain. Yet in those encounters, we also see hope.”
As Winter Nears, the Work Continues
Awards celebrate the past, but compassion looks ahead.
As cold weather arrives, many Bulgarian families still live in homes that need urgent repair, or hospitals that lack the basic equipment to care for patients with dignity.
You can help today.
A gift of €30 can help repair a leaking roof or provide a hospital bed for someone in need.
Your kindness will keep homes warm, restore dignity, and share the light of God’s love across Bulgaria.
