ADRA delivering life-needed water to Ukrainians
ADRA Ukraine cooperates with UNICEF to provide drinking water, hygiene items, power generators and other relief supplies to people in various regions of Ukraine where the water supply was destroyed due to the fighting or the population suffers from an acute need for drinking water.
ADRA Ukraine delivered around 125,000 litres of drinking water to the residents of settlements in eastern Ukraine, such as Mariinka, Druzhkivka, Izium, Kryvyi Rih and communities of the Kherson region.
In addition, ADRA Ukraine delivered 300- and 1,000-litre water tanks to Zakarpattia (Western Ukraine) and Donetsk (Eastern Ukraine) regions, which 2,000 beneficiaries can use. In Donetsk and Mykolaiv regions (southern Ukraine), additional tablets for water treatment were provided.
The project also provided power generators. ADRA handed them over to local administrations in cities such as Irpin (near Kyiv), Kostiantynivka and Bakhmut (eastern Ukraine).
Hygiene kits consisting of personal hygiene items and household chemicals, children’s diapers, and kits for people with disabilities, including adult diapers, wet wipes and other items, were distributed to needy people as well.
Almost 29,000 people received hygiene kits in 13 regions of Ukraine, where many internally displaced persons live – Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk in western Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk in central Ukraine, Kharkiv in north-eastern Ukraine, Kyiv, Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine and other cities.
