Food packages for people in Kharkiv and Poltava regions
Internally displaced people from crisis-hit and occupied areas of the country, living in the village of Novoselivka in the Poltava region, central Ukraine, have received food aid from ADRA Ukraine and ADRA Slovakia.
ADRA delivered humanitarian packages containing 15 kilograms of food and hygiene items to a centre for the elderly in the Kharkiv region of Northeast Ukraine.
The homes of the elderly were destroyed. Some were forced to leave their homes due to the constant shelling.
“Most of the residents of the shelters are over 80 years old, but there are also people among them who are almost 100 years old.” Some people are mobile, but most are bedridden and require wheelchairs. “Therefore, this help was essential for them,” ADRA Ukraine explained.
The handover of humanitarian aid to partners took place in the presence of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine, Mr Marek Šafin.
Since the start of the project, ADRA Slovakia has provided packages to almost 70 000 people in need.
The project is implemented from the funds of the Official Development Assistance of the Slovak Republic – SlovakAid.
