Let’s Keep It Respectful: Our Netiquette Guidelines
We’re glad you’re connecting with ADRA online — whether you follow us for updates, share your thoughts, or support our work across Europe and beyond. Our digital spaces are meant to reflect who we are: a humanitarian and faith-based organisation that values compassion, dignity, and justice.
To make sure our conversations remain open, respectful, and meaningful, we’ve put together a few simple ground rules. These guidelines apply to all interactions on ADRA Europe’s website and social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Why this matters
At ADRA, we believe that the way we speak with each other matters. Just like in our projects — where we aim to listen, include, and uplift — we want our online spaces to be safe and welcoming. That means respecting one another, even when we don’t see eye to eye.
What we encourage
- Respectful conversation
Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and dignity. Please engage in ways that reflect that. - Thoughtful disagreement
If you disagree with a post or another commenter, explain your point of view clearly and calmly — and stick to the topic. - Constructive contributions
Helpful comments, honest feedback, genuine questions — these all make our pages better. Thank you for being part of the dialogue. - Clarity and care
Keep your language respectful and easy to understand. Take a moment before posting to think about how your words might come across. - Privacy awareness
Please don’t share personal information about yourself or others in the comments.
What we moderate
We want everyone to feel safe and respected when engaging with us online. To protect that space, we reserve the right to remove comments or posts that include:
- Personal attacks or insults
If a comment targets someone directly with hurtful or aggressive language, we’ll step in. Critique the idea — not the person. - Hate speech or discrimination
Any content that demeans or excludes others based on religion, nationality, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or any other aspect of identity will not be tolerated. - False claims or unfounded accusations
If you’re raising concerns or sharing information, please back it up with credible sources. Misinformation can cause harm, especially in humanitarian contexts. - Spam or commercial content
Our channels are not a space for advertising or promotion. Repetitive posts, copy-paste messages, or links that promote external products or services will be removed. The same may be valid for donation appeals by other organisations or private persons sharing their bank account details. We cannot validate those and want our channels to be a safe place for our followers. - Privacy violations or copyright issues
Please only share content you have the right to post, and avoid including private information (yours or others’) in your comments.
If a user repeatedly posts content that goes against these principles, we may restrict or block their access to our channels.
A shared space, shaped by shared values
We are a global humanitarian organisation, rooted in the Christian tradition, committed to justice, compassion, and serving all people — regardless of background or belief. Our online presence should reflect these values, just as much as our programmes do.
We’re not here to silence differing opinions — but we will always prioritise a respectful and constructive environment.
Thanks for helping us keep our digital spaces supportive, honest, and open. Your voice matters — and we’re grateful you’re part of this journey with us.
