Taking care of mental health amidst war

More than 200 people in Kyiv attended the group program for adults and children conducted by psychologists from ADRA Ukraine on June 5.

As part of the DANIDA project with the support of ADRA Denmark, a group program of psychological support for adults and children took place in the capital of Ukraine. Besides, the residents of the capital many internally displaced people joined the well-needed activity.

Adults were offered the “Country of Health program”, which consisted of a quest to learn about eight principles of health. Participants got their blood pressure, height, and weight measured, tasted the food, and did anti-stress massage.

ADRA Ukraine psychologists have prepared mini-trainings with practical exercises and tips: “Anxiety suitcase”, “Happiness hormones”, “How to deal with emotions during anxiety”, and “The impact of emotions on health”. The learning can be easily adapted to everyday life, therefore improving the mental health of the participants.

Children could visit “Childhood Island”. The program for young participants included various workshops, they could play games with animators and have their aqua makeup done. Soap bubbles also brought lots of smiles. They even had a lottery with gifts!

Activities for the children continue – the children were invited to children’s group programs scheduled for June 7 and 9.
