A New Hope TV programme brings stories of humanitarian action, development cooperation and social engagement to audiences across German-speaking Europe
Three ADRA offices in Europe have joined forces to bring the work of ADRA to television.
From 1 October, ADRA Austria, ADRA Switzerland and ADRA Germany will launch a new weekly programme on Hope TV. The 25-minute series, “ADRA direkt – Hilfe, die ankommt”, will air every Thursday at 9:30 pm (repeated throughout the week) and will introduce viewers to humanitarian response, development cooperation and social initiatives from across the ADRA network.
Hosted by Gabi Pratz, each episode will feature one or more guests who will share first-hand experiences and explore a specific topic connected to ADRA’s work.
For ADRA Europe, the initiative is also an example of how national ADRA organisations can collaborate across borders, pool expertise and communicate more effectively with audiences who share a common language.
Bringing people closer to ADRA’s work
At the centre of the series is a simple principle: meaningful humanitarian and development work starts by listening to people and understanding their needs.
Across 13 episodes in 2026, ADRA staff will share experiences and stories from the field and give viewers an insight into how projects and emergency responses work in practice.
The programmes will explore questions such as: What does effective assistance look like? How can support contribute to lasting change? And how can communities become more resilient when facing crises?
Personal studio conversations will be combined with images and video footage from project locations, bringing viewers closer to the people, communities and initiatives behind ADRA’s work.
The series will also consider some of the broader challenges affecting humanitarian and development organisations today, including changing political conditions, while reflecting on ADRA’s values of justice, compassion and love.
From emergency response to climate adaptation
The first episode, broadcast on 1 October, will feature Lukas Driedger, Head of International Cooperation at ADRA Germany. He will share his experiences from emergency response in the Middle East and explain some of the approaches ADRA uses when responding to humanitarian crises.
Later episodes will include the Country Directors of ADRA Austria, ADRA Switzerland and ADRA Germany discussing the current situation facing non-governmental organisations. The viewers will be taken along to projects in India, Nepal, Fiji, Mozambique, Ethiopia and other places. Other topics will range from peacebuilding, poverty reduction, education and livelihoods to climate adaptation, disaster preparedness and emergency relief.
Working together across borders
The programme is a joint initiative of ADRA Austria, ADRA Switzerland and ADRA Germany, developed in close cooperation with Hope Media Europe in Alsbach-Hähnlein, Germany.
The collaboration reflects a wider strength of the ADRA network in Europe: national organisations remain rooted in their own contexts while being able to connect, learn from one another and work together across borders.

After broadcast on https://hopetv.de/live, each programme will also remain available through the Hope TV media library.
