ADRA Switzerland publishes the Annual Report 2021

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Switzerland has published its annual report 2021 under the theme “People in Focus”. According to the report, 29 projects were undertaken in 16 countries worldwide in 2021, five of which were in Switzerland. In total, around 254,000 people were supported.

New ADRA Shops in Bern and Zurich
In spring 2021, the ADRA Shop in Zurich Oerlikon opened its doors. In the form of a second-hand shop run by eight volunteers, clothing, shoes, bags, toys, household, and decorative items are sold at low prices. The shop is open to the public. People who can show proof of a social welfare status receive the clothes free of charge.

In October 2021, the new ADRA Shop in Bern gave out durable food to people on a small budget, for the first time. Many volunteers would work in the shop. By the end of the year, about 100 people were supplied with food, each week.

Impact study Indonesia
The annual report contains an impact study on the reconstruction in Indonesia after the earthquake and tsunami disaster of 2018. ADRA Switzerland is still active there and is still helping “four years after the disaster, with targeted and efficient projects” that provide the population with immediate aid through employment measures on the one hand and future prospects in agriculture on the other.

The office of ADRA Switzerland – with eleven employees – is located in Aarau, and the headquarters is in Zurich. The relief organization is a registered association in the commercial register. It enjoys tax exemption and was recertified in 2017 for a further five years by the Swiss agency for charitable institutions that collect donations (ZEWO).
